Even though breeders are still busy with stag derbies especially with the upcoming Bakbakan 9-stag derby most of them are also preparing their select fowls now for the 7-cock Candelaria derby. Next year's 40th Anniversary promises to be bigger and livelier. And as usual, the Balikbayans will be there in full force.

Malamang ang Tribu Hiligaynon, Negros Occidental Cockers Group ay magkakaroon din ng entries. Sana makasali rin ang iba pa kagaya ng CF, UFAC, Cebu at Davao groups.

Balikbayans are free to get inside as long as you have the proper identifications to present at the gate. Its 5 straight days of bigtime cockfighting. Normally, it is a marathon of 10 am to 2 am of the following day.

Low-priced hotels with good accomodations, and seafood restaurants are just about 30 minutes away from the coliseum. Win or loss, Candelaria derby is always a memorable experience to savor.

Some bets are so low like 1,000.00 pesos only that prompted so many participants to complain about it. With so much preparation and large expense to put up an entry and not be able to place a decent bet was just so frustrating to most owners and financers. That's one major reason I think that the minimum bet was imposed.

May entry ba kayo o yong grupo nyo, bai Ronking? Hindi natin masasabi pero malay natin at suwertihin naman kayo at maka champion. Goodluck sa mga laban mo.

I think the minimum bet was implemented last year. It was 22T yata ang minimum that time. Migo Banate, Yes, it is frustrating for the owners and financiers for their bets not to be squared considering the big entry fee and cost of preparing for the derby.The beauty of this derby is that even backard breeders specially from Negros and panay who have quality fowls can enter this derby. (yung lang, a breeder there with 200-300 cocks is still called backyard)

Less than a month from now bigtime sabong na naman. May bad news nga lang dahil hindi yata makakasali si Nene Abello dahil sa nangyari pagbaha sa lugar nila sa Bacolod. Maraming namatay sa mga nakahandang mga manok niya. Pati raw sa WSC baka hindi rin siya makakasali. Isa pa naman siya sa mga defending champions doon.

Malapit na ito. each entry is obligated to fight 4 cocks in order to qualify for the 3 cock finals. So I guess maski zero ang score sa 1st elim day (2 cocks), you still have to fight your 2 cocks on the second day. Tama ba? Since malaki laki ang capital dito, everyone will definitely fielding thier best fowls kaya all quality fights.
