Good cross for gilmore hatch
Just got a couple of gilmore hatch pullets from BM. What stag would you suggest that I use to cross them with.
Thanks

Re: Good cross for gilmore hatch
Thanks for the input guys......really appreciate it. Will probably try it with a claret. In your experience, if crossed with a white legged claret, would most male offsprings be white legged too? Thanks again.

A toss in the air. If the pullets' genes are predominantly green or blue legged and the broodcock is predominantly white legged then chances are the mating's offsprings - NOT JUST THE MALES - would come up half white legged or dirty white and half green or blue legged. Then there's that propensity that the stags would inherit the features of the hen factor to consider. It's all genetics and it's difficult to predict the answer to your specific question.

Re: Good cross for gilmore hatch
We have 8 of the Hudspeth Albany Hens. We have crossed them with Gilmore Hatch, Jumper Kelso, and Gilliam Hatch. Let you know the results after January 2008. We will fight the first crosses then. Let me know if you hear anything about Gary. I have some of some of his birds. Extremely fine birds.

Re: Good cross for gilmore hatch
The Gilmore are our bread and butter line. They cross well and most importantly, they win. If there is a negative about the line, it is that although they win they get cut as well. Got to breed alot of them to get through 40 or more derbies each year. We are trying to move away from the Gilmore, but , just can't get it done ! Why, They Win !
our favorite crosses are Gilmore Cock over Roundhead Hen or Sweater Hen. Our latest cross , Black Bobby Boles Asil over Gilmore Hen.

You're abosolutely right on those Gilmores! Even though you already grab the money out of your wallet to pay, you end up putting it back with more cash than you could imagine because they find a way to win....
This warrior came from a Gilmore (with a dash of black) mated to a Carson Farm BB hen..

It's only one of the factors to make sure that your warrior lasts inside the pit. However, it needs a good pair of breeding materials to win a gruesome minutes of non-stop fight. The broodhen that I got from you almost 3 years ago is a proven material and brings confidence to any breeder like me to propagate them. Crossing them with a Gilmore (with a dash of black) is what it takes to come up with a mean fighting machine like this.....
This fight is against the warrior of Honey Yu - a WSD champion few years back.

Re: Good cross for gilmore hatch
Sweaters! They are still winning... Raffy Yulo, BM, Sonny Lagon --- I believe these great cockers are using sweater-gilmore blend to win tonz of money in the pit.
