A Breeder's Idea "Made to order Fighting cocks"

What about setting up a system on " Made to order Fightingcocks". We are thingking about selling ready for derby fighting cocks.
The idea is to sell conditioned and ready to fight fighting cocks. Just for example you have a derby to fight next month, you can inform us and order the number of birds that you will need for that derby including the reserves. We will condition the birds for you and you will pay and pick up the birds prior to your fighting day. All you need to do is point the birds prior to the fight. Since we have our own Gaffer in the farm we will give you the option to use our handler/Gaffer during your fight.That way you can be sure that the guy that conditioned and got your birds ready knows every aspects of your birds.

Not my experience but from others and stories I heard; some breeders replace roosters that were selected by a buyer because they want to put their own selection and bet on it too. It end up costing the buyer big bucks. Also some breeders will show you beautiful fighters but at the end replacing them with bad ones. It's hard to trust when it comes to money.

I heard stories like that too but that ruins the name of the breeder. It takes years to build a reputation and if you will let greed run over reputation... you'll end up loosing everything including your friends. Our idea is to sell only to derbies where we dont fight thats why we are including our handler/ gaffer's services as an option they can have. I dont gamble and i fight my chickens for fun and for the love of the sport.

Easier said than done? If you can select, condition your birds, and offer services of your gaffer/handler why not fight them yourself, for fun and for the love of the sport, if you don't gamble?

Make, join, offer a partnership instead or look for financers?

that's a very good idea. i, for one am based in the US. i visit the PI every 2 or 3 years only thus setting up a farm in PI is a losing proposition. shipping birds before every vacation is not viable either as there are too many variables to consider for a month of vacation. my only other choice is like what you planned to do. as a matter of fact, that is my plan for this december. i even requested that the conditioner do the pointing also and option for the gaffer (if my gaffer friend is not available in PI, the farms' gaffer will be my gaffer also). TRUST will play a big rule for sure, but that's the same as when you obtain your breeding materials isn't it? you just have to trust that you are not being had.

tagalog tayo..hehehe!!! maganda yung mungkahi mo pero i think ikaw din ang mahihirapan nyan..yung bibili sila ng manok sa iyo for example kinabukasan derby na..kung handler ng buyer ang magpopoint problemang malaki yun dahil di nya kabisado ang manok at maaaring magkaiba kayo ng feeds..malaking adjustment iyon sa isang critical na araw pa mismo ng derby..baka masira ang pointing dahil diyan...ngayon naman kung sagot mo din ang handler, problema naman nyan papanu yung mga iba pang manok na maiiwan sa farm na kinokondisyon mo? papanu kung sabay ang derby ng bumibiling buyer at sa magkaibang lugar ang derby?? hihingi din ng extra suweldo sa iyo ang handler na ito at pagka minalas ka pa ng konti baka napirata pa yung handler mo..

I spoke about this plan with my handler and my farm manager and they both agreed na lamang talaga ang buyers dito sa idea na to. My handler/gaffer has been on many big time derbies beeing handler/gaffer for many big timecockers like Jun Cumeta, Butch Macasaet and others so I am sure that his pointing process should be the same if not close to other handlers.
I developed this idea because I know a lot of people just buy their birds before the derbies and they dont know if the birds are ready or not. They just trust the name of the breeders that they get their fowls. For me they are just wasting their hard earned money just for the love of fighting birds.
I fight derbies too but I cant fight all of them thats why I am sharing my birds. This is the best way you'll make friends and enjoy the sport.
As for my handler/gaffer is concerned, he's been there already. He's beaten a lot of big time cockers and been offered to be pirated but his integrity is strong for IMC because he's one of our team's backbone. He's one of the guys that built IMC.

very valid ang points ni hampaslupa, paano kung yung farm na may kumpromiso sa dalawang financier ay sabay ang derby? o kung malayo ang derby, paano ang manok na maiiwan sa farm? ang sagot dito ay hindi madali, ang kailangan mo siguro ay dagdag na farm hands na medyo pare-parehas ang level ng experience.

but from my side na mag-finance,
make sure na maaga pa lang maki-pag-arrange ka na para at least makapag-prepare sila kung kailangan ng ibang personnel o hindi.
pangalawa, warn them of your actual plans like ' i may need 15 roosters, 8 for 2 derbies and 7 for possible hacks kung hindi naubos sa derby ang puhunan'. kung hindi papayag sa hindi siguradong hack, at least you both know. walang sorpresa, walang sayang na pagod kung sakali.
third, ayaw kong i-point ang hindi ko kinondisyon. the difference of the feed alone will give you problems and when you are fielding an entry you want to win. pero pati eto napag-uusapan, kung hindi pwede sa farm A (dahil my kumpromiso na), di i-try mo sa farm B kung pwede.
like everything else, shop around and when you find what you want or like stick with it. iwasan lang ang manloko ng kapwa. hindi yung mag-paready ka ng 20 na manok tapos may nag-offer ng mas mura eh kalimutan mo na ang pagod ng unang ka-deal mo. pinaka-importante, you gain friends kung hindi ka manloloko and friends tend to protect THEIR friends (by providing probably their aces).

Tama ang sabi ni Blacksmith na marami sa mga bigtime ay ganyan ang gawain kasi ayaw na nila ng finance. Mas preferred nila na bentahan na kagad pero payag sila na sila na rin maghahanda for a fee plus yung usual gastos sa transpo, food etc. etc. Di na bago yan dito sa PInas. Dami gumagawa nyan. Talaga pong marami talagang pag iisipan sa planong to. Napag usapan na namin sa boong farm to bali balitaktakan kami doon all in favor na mas pabor sa mga buyers ang planong ito.
Tungkol doon sa selection. once nakapili na po ang buyer at nasa kanya na ang lista ng wing band numbers his bird will be set aside po during other costumer's selection.
About the number of birds our breeding area can produce up to 1000 birds per season easily and we have a new cord area that can accomodate that number of birds too.
If this idea come to reality we may start producing more. At the moment we have produced 300 well selected stags this breeding season of which will just be for our personal use. If many people will like this idea we will start with the 2008 Stag derby season.
Right now we have just found a new area for our satelite sit in Leyte where we will be housing at least 500 birds. Closer to the fights in the Visayan areas.

just a point on selection, sometimes mas reliable pa ang salita ng farm owner/manager kaysa sarili mong mata dahil kabisadong kabisado nila lahat ng manok nila. kaya do not discount ang suggestions nila.

si boy lechon hindi mahilig mamusta. minsan nakikita ko yan kung may isasabay man na pusta is 1.1k or 2.2k lang. then pag nagtravesia mga tig 500 pesos lang. ang pera talaga niya na kinikita ay hindi sa pusta but sa manok na binebenta niya (12k) ang selling price niya.... madami ang namimili ng manok sa kanya at marami siya financier but marami cya kinukunan na breeder sa bacolod.... kaya tumagal cya sa sabong dahil sa mahina pumusta pero malaki ang kita sa pagbebenta ng manok.... soft spoken and mabait na tao si boy lechon hes an asset to our sport... biggest financier niya cguro ay si louie cua (LCC entry)
