As we enter our third year, TJT Cocking Academy will continue to impart cocking knowledge as it moves to a higher level of learning. Doc Teddy Tanchanco's systematic method of teaching through actual demonstrations and lectures enables the students to comprehend and visualize the various aspects of gamefowl rearing & conditioning.

The medium of instruction is both in Tagalog & English.... If he has the desire & enthusiasm to learn, then there would be no problem because the hands on approach & actual demos would make it easier for him to understand the concepts & procedures. We've had a number of students with the same profile and the language was not a hindrance.

TJT Cocking Academy offers a 3 day farm-based course using the hands-on approach of learning. Everything pertaining to cocking is discussed indepthly from the day they are hatched up to the day when they will be released in the pit.
The first day is focused on learning the basics of breeding; the systematic way of rearing them right; and most importantly, they would learn the proven treatment of common poultry diseases. The proper procedure on how to administer the vaccines and the practical remedies on the various problems that you will encounter on a day to day basis are shown to the students. Since the Academy does not engage in product endorsements, you are rest assured that the medicines that will be recommended are proven and effective.
The second day is all about conditioning which will be discussed in detail through actual demos, on feeding, training, exercise (worktable) including the best medication that will put them ON POINT. We round up the day, with more chicken talk during our cocktails.
Our last day, is focused on trouble shooting, pointing and everything that has to be done on fight day. To complete the course, we include gaffing lessons wherein everyone is given the chance to tie the knife under the supervision of a competent gaffing instructor. Late in the afternoon, we have the graduation rites as a culminating activity to allow the students to formalize the completion of the 3 day course.
Aside from imparting knowledge, the Academy's main goal is to produce honorable and respectable cockers.

TJT Cocking Academy presents an award of recognition to Alfred Pangilinan (right, wearing an academy t-shirt) for his remarkable skill as handler of Octagon Apung Tiago GWD- SOLO Champion in the recently concluded World Slasher Cup Derby May 2007. The actual footage will be shown in HATAW PINOY this coming Sunday- June 17- 10AM in IBC 13.

The awarding was done in the evening. Everything went on smoothly that night except for the "flash"
