Maning, the last time I prayed in Candelaria the Pawarrat team won their second championship and Papeng was still their gaffer. I haven't heard about them since.
Were I out of circulation on the cocking world already???

Maning, all I remember was Pawarrat's 2nd championship so probably '86. Yeah Papeng was introduced to me by a friend who was one of the financiers of Pawarrat. He was a very quiet, reserved person and I didn't even know that he already kicked the bucket.
See, I was really out of circulation.
Your posting about BBF was very good.

maning's explanation of the "libat" na tari is already sufficient. There are advantages and disadvantages with this kind of "tari".
it depends on the breed of the cock, the gaffer, and conditioner. If you observe the cocks "palo" is either curb or straight line. If you are using "libat" and your cocks "palo" is curve then medyo delayed ang hataw. dahil yan ang secreto ng "libat" pag hinatak mo letter "C" ang sugat. Maning is also right that when the style of fighting of the roosters is classical- "libat" is useless.

Sundowner, you're from Aklan and during the time I was still fighting my cocks in Roxas City, Capiz, Bobby Mabasa and Dr.Robero were fighting good quality cocks, good conditioning and preparation. I heard they were just picking apples when they fought their cocks in Manila during those times. The cocks they were using were all salto and just waiting for its opponent to move.Do you know them by chance??

Pinolim I met Bobby Mabasa here in San Diego when we have the Ati-Atihan celebration
three years ago. I heard he is back in Aklan with his lovely wife for good. I don’t know Dr. Robero. To be honest with you I have not done any fighting in Kalibo.

Cheers,

Thanks for the reply, Sundowner!! I think the correct name is Dr.Rovillo. It's good you meet Bobby Mabasa, I don't know if they are still fighting their cocks. Baliskadanay bulsa!!! But it really is worth watching.

I thought I should share my experienced to all the Gaffer or Mananari and of course to everybody.
I prepare to use the Filipino Knife with garol mainly for two reasons. First, the garol is an addition weapon that can cause damage to the opposing cock.. You might have witnessed in some occasion a cock will sustain a broken wings, legs or get hit in the head by a garol during battle and eventually lost the fight.
Let me tell you my experienced in Copper State, Arizona Cocpit. One of my fights, in the first fly, the other rooster was hit (tinamaan sa ulo ng garol) and run to the corner of the Pit unconscious or maybe lost its sense of direction. My bird was fatally hit but was able to pick before it died, the opponent being unconscious was not, so I won the fight. Later on I was informed that the opponent has no cut at all except with the bruise to the right side of the head. See what the garol can do? It sounds like “Repley’s Believe Me or Not” TV show. he he he
Second, the garol is an additional support to firmly secure and minimize the movement of the knife. I am sure there are lots of Garol Stories out there, lets bring them out…..

Cheers,

Low and High Point Knife/MANNING

Hi Mang Manning!
1.When do you need a high or low point knife?
2.When two cocks are matched, the one is with a short knife the other with a long knife, regardless of the fighting styles who has the advantage?
3. In the US they used to have combo derby using 3 types of weapons, short or Mexican knives,Gaff, and long knife.Do they have to used mixed type of fowls?

........

oks yan pre...ang bentahe ng pakpak langaw sa tingin ko e pag nagkahatakan blade to blade yung dalawang tare e bahagya or wala ng pressure sa bandang dulo kaya hindi lulupi yung blade sa bandang dulo, yung ang pinaka importante sa tingin ko sa tare yung tulis at yung talim sa bandang dulo...yun kasi ang kakamot para humiwa sa kalamnan....just how i see it ika nga :hippie:
