Re: Penny Hatch
I think it is perfect for all weapons. I breed this Penny and is all around fowl. Cant find any hatch any better. I like them crossed on grey and lieper. Here is one of my stags I raised that is starting to throw feathers

Re: Penny Hatch
Man got to love those pennys! I like your pics also those are good looking cocks. My main hatch is from Rats bloodlines. Basiclly Tom Dale Penny.. I got his penny and leiper a while back at different times looking for the best of the best so to speak. This year I breed some of this Penny on my other 2 hatch strains and really like what I get. You can tell that these cocks are really breed. I been to 2 farms where they have pennys and there hens like mine always beat up the other hens and are always dominate. When I let them hens loose to freshen up after breeding season they always come out dominate and when 2 penny hens meet you better just re pen them up lol. Best of luck with your pennys sir.

Re: Penny Hatch
I believe Tom Dale improved the Sherryl Pennies when he went off to jail. It was evident when Tom/Shirley and Dick dale won all them big derbies in the LK at Mid America and Texoma using Penny hatch/Kelso crosses. I obtained the tom dale pennies from a friend who got them "direct" from Tom and Shirley. I show them pure and they can win with ease or duke it out for hours with gameness but recent experiments with sweaters were very successful and I think they nick well. The pennies are good just like any other hatches but the one characteristic I like about them is there cutting ability. As soon as I can retire from the military I have desires of re-engaging with starting a gamefowl in the PI with my friends.

Yeah, what I meant was not Tom Dale but the man from Ohio who entrusted the Hatches to Shyrill went to jail, then Sherryll and sometime two or three years back, Shyrills son...

Starrer I was wondering what you mean by a half or a quarter will do the trick? Does this mean a quarter of the leiper or penny? I breed some both ways and was wondering if you had experiance on this cross or is this what Rat told you to breed? Regards

A half or a quarter of the penny... This was according to Rat and Crow... They said they always breed with the leiper at half the blood or 3/4 of the blood with the penny blood completing the fraction...

Re: Penny Hatch
Kenny Troiano in San Diego California has the good Penny hatch. He is well known for quality roosters. He has a friend, Mr. Anthony Saville who also breeds this type of roosters. Mr. Saville was mentionel in an article in "palenque de Oro" by a Mr. Chito Chan from Panama as one of the worlds best breeder. Mr. Chan is Panamanian of chinese origin and is well known in Central and South American as a tough honest competitor. Mr. Troiano has the Col. Givens Hatch which I believe are the same as the Penny Hatch, I may be wrong but even if I am The givens fowl are comparable to any of the best breeds around.

Re: Penny Hatch
Would someone please explain the main differences - like appearance, style (high breaking) and cutting if you compare a PENNY to a PERRY HATCH ?
Can someone please post a photo of a PERRY to compare?

Re: Penny Hatch
Star Cross,
Penny Hatch are medium station hatches, bitter game and they are gaff birds. If you drop it to 1/4 or 1/8, probably will work on slasher knife that we are using in PI.
