Re: mel simm blood line
I have some mels back in hawaii, but unfortunately Ive been in Vegas for a year already, but I going Im going back home in august. Rite now my parters been taking care of them, and breeding some. We have the hatches and the blacks but last year was the first year of breeding them because I got them all for free from my good friend who passed away and his son couldnt take care of the birds because he was in the prosses of starting his own truckin bussiness. So I was the first one he asked to take over his dads mels. Before his passing I used to just buy about a couple dozen every year, I would have first pick every year even before him because he would let me have any rooster in his whole yard execpt his breeders. I would be at his yard in august and september almost three times a week just observing his bullstags.

Yeah!! I admit I was in good with them, But I guess since I knew them since I was young and they were good friends with my uncle they took me in like familly and they taught me a lot about the game and they were the first people who put good chickens in my hands. I used to even tie knife for them and help them to win some derbies. Boy I sure do miss that old man!! At least now we can try to continue his legacy thru his fowl and I know one thing for sure!! is that when I get back to hawaii the first thing Im doing is add in some of my other mel blood that I got from another friend and put in some of the new mel blood to freshen them up again. Should be even better!!
Watch out guys!!! Im coming back!! LOL..

Re: mel simm blood line
mels brown reds, and grey/brown red cross (dirty greys), has been dominating in mexico, at the most biggest pits there. the brown reds came from a man in california named bob bassette, who still fights at the local pitts and does very well.

Re: Mel Simms Hatch vs Mel Simms Black
cant take just one. his hatch compliments the black. the combination is just like ebony and ivory of a grand piano. plus the pullets of this mating can create monsters when mated 3way to a good roundhead and or claret.

Re: Mel Simms Hatch vs Mel Simms Black
My nephew won a 5 cock with Mel's White Legs. They were dark reds with W/L that fought like blacks. I myself cross the Mel Simms Hatch over Gavilan grey hens to produce outstanding greys. Never lost one yet, worst I did was a draw and fought about 30 of them so far. Best nick I've had in a long time.
