Re: how????
Feed them eggs from the store or some you don't want. American games don't like sitting for some reason but they lay so.... get a jap of some sort or asil or what ever it doesn't have to be game at all just a good sitter! Asils ARE good sitters I've put 11-15 eggs under an asil and hatched just about all of them. Incubators suck ass! They need too much tendind if the damn thing will even go the 21 days in the first place! All in all I use incubators and hens both.

Re: how????
I have a shed 16 by 20ft with a outside enclosure 20 by 30ft i have my brooders set up inside the shed after they hatch put them under a light in brooder alot of people use a red light to discourage picking. Use a good starter grower feed 20% protein or better I keep them in brooders until they are about 6wks old always worm them every couple wks keep your feeders and waters full and clean at all times bleech is good to clean them with about once a wk at six wks i turn them loose in the big pen and when all are about 2or 3mts old i open the doors on the shed and just let them free range I always keep plenty of feed and water in the Shed so the pretty much hang out around the shed and always go back in there at night to roost and I can close the door at night and open it back up in the morning. Always vaccinate to for the most common diseases in your area. Hope this helps

Re: how????
And always keep grit out for them I use oyster shell because it gives them calcium and vitamin D also they need it to help grind their feed in their gizzard.

Re: how????
Find out which diseases are common for your area their are alot af game fowl suppliers on the internet that you can buy vaccines from. If they look a little sickly a broad spectrum water soluable antibiotic would be good. After giving any antibiotic make sure you give them something to put the good probiotics back in them by giving them something cultured like buttermilk or yogurt. Antibiotics kill all the bacteria good and bad. They need certain enzymes to help them digest their feed.

How do you mark the different chicks to keep track of them? Anyone? A breeder told me different nail polish in their toes...?

Re: how????
If you don't have a disease problem already don't worry about it. No need to medicate. If by chance you have a disease come in and wipe you out breed to the survivers they are the immune ones. I wouldn't worry about disease too much more worry about overcrowding and HEAT! It's been around 110 112 degrees here! Good luck guy!

Re: how????
Sorry, if they are already sick you should cull. They'll probably grow up and not do you any good.

Time and experience. You will never perfect it. All you can do is to do your best. And if you do your best, you will get satisfaction.

You can either use a toe punch or slash webs with a knife. If I have more then one kind I will slash a web say i have 2 bunches in the same brooder one bunch will be slashed on one of their webs the other no marks. When they get to about three wks I wing band and record them in my record book. I use zip wing bands and you can use several colors and #s. For example yellow for hatch blue for claret and green for cross yellow and blue make green. I always band pure in thw left wing cross in the right. That way your not leaveing it all to memory. You can pick any rooster up on the yard and automatically know what they are just by the color of the wing band. The main thing is to always keep good records of band #s and what the cock and hen they are breed off of. I will write the cocks wing band down and the hens, what breed they are and all of the biddies under one heading.

Funny how when I'm on top they point out what I'm doing wrong. Even though I win??? Ehhh. I'll see ya in Ol' mis!

Re: how????
All good sound advice so far. As to feed boiled eggs Crushed with the shell and all with fine ground corn {as fine as corn meal} Is fantastic mixed with Medicated Chick starter. Thats about all I fed chicks for years and it never failed me. I believe Cockfighter 199 fed this or something like it this yer to his chicks, And they did well I believe. Always have oyster shell for your adult fowl and there is no feed greater that green grass. In the winter feed alfa alfa pellets that they use for rabbits.

if you want more eggs give extra lights at night regarding chicks you should vaccinate them (before you put them on the grown )like b1b1 b1 lasota killed vaccine like begopes, mareks vaccines and always put 3times a week anti biotecs with sulfa for coccidioses always be alert regarding about there droppings and also vitamins .
dont do to much very extensive inbreeding this also make your fowls fragile regarding to to have sickness.
by the way always have like a barn or housing to lose your chicks specialy for off season offspring to protect them from rain and to much cold
