Corn & Corn Products Prices are going UP

Corn prices are going up in the futures markets due to droughts in the USA corn belt, all in the coming months. Prices could go up by as much as 50%. All this is according to Financial analysts.

So I thought of buying and storing some?! But that has never worked for me as it turns powdery after the bugs get to it. Any ideas?

Hell, I should just buy some corn futures contracts to hedge on what I will be paying at the feed store, lol.

Zeolite (food grade ) just spread to your corn before storing it wil kill the bug who eat the corn or better sun dry if you notice some bugs already around the corn.

Re: Corn & Corn Products Prices are going UP

When corn goes up - all feeds go up so you might as well be prepared. Yes id say buying bulk and stocking up on all your feed would be wise . Esp at a 50% hike ... if this is indeed true........?

Re: Corn & Corn Products Prices are going UP

This isn't just a "feed" problem. The cost of corn and beans is going to go up but it will impact all of us indirectly.
On average, food prices typically rise 1% overall for every 50% jump in corn prices, said Richard Volpe, an economist for the Economic Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, but fresh protein and dairy products are impacted more severely.
In fact, the price of beef, pork and poultry could jump as high as 10% if the drought lingers, said Michael Miller, senior vice president of global research for the National Cattlemen's Beef Association.

Re: Corn & Corn Products Prices are going UP

Reguardless of how high the feed prices get, just remember if you can't afford to feed em,,,chop their heads off,,,cause a famished rooster ain't worth two cents,,,as feed prices rise, try to get more feed milage, that can compensate for the higher prices,,,produce stands and markets have throw out everyday,,chickens love this stuff and you can get enough to supplement with feed 2-3 times a week for alittle or nothing,,,tomatoes,,,watermelon,,,,cucumbers,,,a bird will eat anything,,,,,get you a bag of beet pulp,,,soak that and mix with the feed and cut up this disguarded produce,,,,,,soaked oats smell like perfume compaired to soaked beet pulp,,,,,but chickens love it and feel of em a few weeks later,,,,,,man on man,,,,,plus the ONCE N MORNING feeding made me realise how much money i had lost over the years feeding twice per day,,,,as that last feed of the day has fattened many a pen rat,,,also the once per day method produces a more athletic feeling bird and less a feel like something you're feeding to eat,,,,,,,try it and you'll see,,,,,,BRK

Re: Corn & Corn Products Prices are going UP

I just called the local farmer for the price of whole corn to hopefully get a early jump on things. Well his price alredy went up. 14.00 for a 100 lbs. shelled. Called the elevator and there @ 16.95 for a 100 lbs. I'm up north where it snows,so I gotta have it for the winter months. Probably only going to get higher, along with the pellets. What's the price in your area right now for shelled corn? YFIS

Re: Corn & Corn Products Prices are going UP

Corn was in one town $13.50 tin another it was $7.50. Dog food cost the most. I mix cracked corn, whole milo and dog food. If they would sell wheat in 50lb sacks I'd add that to the mix.

Re: Corn & Corn Products Prices are going UP

those who have a lot of free acres/hectares of land should start farming corn for their feeds and maybe a new source of income
