Thundercock

THIS IS GOING TO BE A LONG ONE
cocker122563,

First, I would like to apologize for responding in English...I am Cebuano and my Tagalog is not very good.

This is the first time a have entered the USAPANG MANOK threads...Draven alerted me about this topic and since there is a question directed to me....I will try to answer it.

We need to point out that different breeds of fowl respond differently to a certain feed. When you feed chick starter mash or grower mash to broilers, they will develop muscle mass and fats at a much more rapid rate compared to layers(leghorns) and fighting fowl(texas).

In Fighting Fowl, there are differences as well...Fighting Fowl with a heavy influence in Oriental blood(asils, japs, malay) will develop more muscle mass and less fat than American type(bankiva) fowl.

Conversely, if you feed your glamor feeds (sagupaan,platinum,thunderbird....etc..) to broilers(45days) they will still develop muscle mass and fats..at the same rapid rate...the way a chicken converts feed is primarily and heavily influenced by its genetics.

The influx of "glamor feeds" have influenced the thinking of most unsuspecting sabungeros... Because of the use of aggressive words and colorful packaging...these bright Marketing tactics are brain-washing you to think that there is something special about these "glamor feeds". Believe it or not, the ONLY GREAT DIFFERENCE in these feeds compared to Commercial Poultry feed IS THE PRICE.

The MultiBillion Corporations like BMEG or General Milling spend Millions of pesos to develop their commercial poultry feeds. They cannot afford to screw up on their formula since they have poultry products(Magnolia Chicken) that depend on their feeds.
Imagine how much they stand to lose if they had to feed millions of broilers one extra day just to reach the market weight....?

The reason why all these major poultry feed companies are getting into the "glamor feed bandwagon" is that ....IT MAKES MONEY...THERE IS A MARKET.... But if you asked their Nutritionist if the gamefowl formula is more superior than the commercial poultry formula....she says they are the same. Of course, she won't publicly admit it....in fear of losing her job...

The amount of feed that you give to your roosters depends also on the type of roosters you have... Example: I only need to give my asil grades 40 grams of dry feed a day to keep them in good flesh(tama ang hipo ng laman) However, it takes 50 to 55 grams a day of dry feed to keep my Butchers, Lemons in good flesh... otherwise, if I fed them only 40 grams a day..they would be too loose(payatot).

So, why do I feed Commercial Poultry Feed ?

1) IT is much much CHEAPER than Glamor Feeds
2) It is just as Nutritionally complete.

Why do I not rely heavily on grain concentrates ?

Because they don't contain animal protiens(blood meal, meat &bone meal, whey powder,)...which is important for a more balanced source of amino acids.

Also, with grain concentrates...it is very difficult to get consistency unless you mix them yourself...and even then, sometimes the feed store runs out of a certain grain(like for example: groat oats..) and you find yourself having to substitute something else in the middle of the conditioning period.

Now, there was a question about moisture...
Okay, when i say mash...I don't really always mean mash literally...I was using the term colloquially to mean Commercial Poultry Feeds which come in many forms ( Crumble,Pellets,Mash)
So, when I am feeding for maintenance...I use Pullet Developer Pellets..and it is fed as is....dry and thrown on the ground.
When I feed chicks...I use Broiler Starter Crumble(BSC)
When I feed breeders...I use Laying Mash or pellets whichever is cheaper at the time.
When I feed for conditioning..I use a mix of Laying Mash and PDP.
BSC might have better quality protiens but it also has more antibiotics and anti-bacterials so I try not to use it for conditioning.

The feed mixture is fed wet and mushy during pre-conditioning and then as we approach the last two weeks...only the PDP is given in its dry pellet form. I add a mixture of grains. one part oats, one part wheat, two parts crack corn....The grains are used to lower the protien level and increase the carbohydrates.

No matter what you feed your roosters..they will compensate moisture by drinking more or drinking less....they know how much moisture they need.

Soaked grains contain plenty of moisture...You can see it yourself...grains more than double the size when soaked in water.

So, to summarize...buy feeds from a reputable company who uses their own feed....BMEG or GENERAL MILLING or VITARICH...
Feed according to needs of your fowl.
Starter Crumble 20% protien for chicks from hatch to 2 months of age.
Pullet Developer Pellet 15%protien from 2 months old to start of Moulting.
Layer Mash 18% protien for the entire Moulting season..
Layer Mash and PDP ---half and half for pre-conditioning.

Never overfeed...never allow them to get fat.
LASTLY, FEEDING IS ONLY 20% OF THE GAME. BREEDING IS 80%

I use to feed purely layer mash from 2 months of age and onwards ....until pre-con
But I found that feeding a low protien ration (PDP) made the stag taller and grew better conformation..

Anyway, i hope I have answered most of the questions on what to feed our gladiators.

thanx jlbs72 & thundercock

maraming salamat mga kasabong for that healthy suggestions & informations.:rbounce: I like PDP feeds but unfortunately, its not available here in Biņan Laguna. In Iloilo & Bukidnon PDP are much cheaper.Anyway, I'll heed ur advise to use conventional feeds and i hope it won't compromise the quality of my gamefowls.

Re: Magandang Patuka Sa Mga Stags

Day old to 2 weeks old............................Chick Booster Bmeg........one to sawa
2 weeks old to 1 month old.....................Starter Crumble Bmeg.....one to sawa
1 month old up to 3 months.....................Hog Starter Pellet.(wet feed)...one to sawa

3 months - 4 months old..........................10% soaked grains 90% H.S.Pellet (3x/d)

4 months old - 6 months old.....................20% soaked grains 80% H.S. Pellet (2x/d)

7 months old....up (maintenance period) 30% soaked grains 70% H.S. Pellets (2x/d)

Malunggay Powder (vitamins, minerals, greens)
HOmemade Probiotic ( immune system booster)
Apple Cider Vinegar ( immune system booster)

Re: Magandang Patuka Sa Mga Stags

Walang anuman kasabong mbmontifalco.

1kg asukal na pula or molases is to 1 kg lamang loob ng fresh fish kasama pati hasang.

2 kutsarang amino acid is to 1 liter none chlorinated water na tubigan.

Nagbibigay ako nito once in a while dahil bihira akong magpurga during maintenance period dahil wala naman akong nakikitang inilalabas nila.

Day old to 2 weeks old............................Chick Booster Bmeg........one to sawa
2 weeks old to 1 month old.....................Starter Crumble Bmeg.....one to sawa
1 month old up to 3 months.....................Hog Starter Pellet.(wet feed)...one to sawa

3 months - 4 months old..........................10% soaked grains 90% H.S.Pellet (3x/d)

4 months old - 6 months old.....................20% soaked grains 80% H.S. Pellet (2x/d)

7 months old....up (maintenance period) 30% soaked grains 70% H.S. Pellets (2x/d)

Malunggay Powder (vitamins, minerals, greens)
HOmemade Probiotic ( immune system booster)
Apple Cider Vinegar ( immune system booster)

Using this method sa mga papisa ko last January 2012, mas tumaas na ang next generation with the same parents.

Sir question, Curious lang, with regards to the natural supplements mixed sa patuka or inuman ng sisiw.. All in ba yang binibigay nyo? Meaning, yung vitamins, amino acid, probiotics and electrolytes mixed all together sa isang painuman? thanks!
